Respite Care

At Kingsmount, we are able to provide Respite Care which is short-term. This can be from as little as a few days to a few months.

If you provide care for a loved one and require time away – either for a break, other commitments or perhaps a medical procedure, Kingsmount are able to provide a short-term option ensuring that your loved one receives the very best in care and companionship hopefully providing you with piece of mind while you are away.

We can also offer Respite Care as a “trial” before making the move into permanent care. This gives the resident time to decide whether the home is a right fit for them. Depending on the needs of the resident, this may not always be an appropriate option but has worked well in the past.

Please call the manager to discuss options and to arrange a viewing of the home.

Your Room

Kingsmount Residential Home is a grand and unique residential property which has been converted into a care home. Each room is different having its own décor and character.

Most rooms are en-suite and due to its elevated position in the pretty area of Oldway, many rooms offer either garden or sea views or views across Torbay.

We encourage residents and families to personalise bedrooms as much as they would like to. This could be by making small additions like hanging photos or preferred pictures on the wall, to bringing in pieces of furniture and soft furnishings. Many residents will find it easier to settle if they surrounded by familiar items and smells. Please speak to the manager about any changes or additions you would like to make to the room and we will endeavour to accommodate this.

So What’s The Process?

Upon enquiry, you will be signposted to our Key Information and Important Additional Information on our website. This can also be provided in printed and large print formats.

Our Manager, Deputy Manager or Senior Care Assistant will take some preliminary information over the phone and invite you in to see the home and rooms that we may have available. At this meeting, more information will be taken and you will be given the chance to ask any questions you may have.

The decision on which care home to choose should not be taken lightly and so you will be advised to take your time and come back to us with any questions you may have.

If you decide that you or your relative would like to move into Kingsmount Residential Home, our Manager or Deputy Manager will come out to do a Pre-Admission Assessment.

If all goes well and the move goes ahead, privately funded residents will be issued with two copies of our Terms and Conditions and any billing documents. Social Services funded residents will enter into an agreement with the Local Authority.

Upon arrival at Kingsmount, an Assessment on Admission will be completed and care plans will be finalised. We encourage Family and Next of Kin to be as involved as they wish during this period and throughout the ongoing care.
